Stem cell supplements are here to stay - they are the way of the future.
Medicine and science has come an awfully long way. Dr Oz said that in the last 12 months we have made a 10 year leap in stem cell technologies. In his words he described this breakthrough as "truly amazing".
Scientists are now predicting that the average human will easily be able to live to 120 years of age by 2050 in a very healthy state. This statement is only possible due to the huge amount of medical and scientific developments being made with stem cell research. You may not be aware - but our own "adult stem cells" (those within our bodies from the day we are born) are fundamental to our overall health and wellbeing, how and when we age.
In 1896 the average human lived to just 48 years of age. Today the average human lives to 80 years of age. It's incredible what facts are now available and what is being discovered to enable us all to take advantage of living a longer, healthier life.
Stem cells are the master cells of the human body. They are the foundation cells from which every organ and tissue in our body is created. It has only been in the last few years that scientists have actually discovered how amazing these stem cells are (especially adult stem cells) and what they can do within our bodies.
Under the right direction, stem cells (once in the blood stream) have the ability to duplicate themselves endlessly and become cells of virtually any organ and tissue of the body. Healthy stem cells override unhealthy cells and are able to seek out areas in the body that require healing. They travel to these areas and repair or replace damaged tissue, muscle, bone and cartilage therefore assisting with the reversal of disease, aging and injury that in turn improves and maintains our overall optimum health.
The bone marrow is an abundant source of adult stem cells hence why many cancer patients have bone marrow transplants or full stem cell replacement therapy.
It's important to note "adult stem cells" are not embryonic stem cells. Embryonic stem cells are pre-birth that must come from an embryo. As adult stem cells exist in our bodies from the day we are born the risk of rejection is non-existent.
The use of adult stem cells is now far outstripping those of embryonic. Those who are already sick can receive healthy adult stem cells from another person - again with no rejection issues. This is why so much more US government funding is now being provided for adult stem cell research. The Vatican has also jumped on board, announcing in April 2010 they are putting millions into adult stem cell research.
